FP 2003 vs. Dreamweaver MX

I have been told FP 2003 made great strides in getting up to the same level
as Dreamweaver MX. Is Dreamweaver still considered the better of the two
programs? Thanks for your input.

Neither is "better"
- It all depends on the user's skills and needs

Depends on who you ask! ;-)

Define better? There are some things that Dreamweaver does extremely well.
There are some things that FrontPage 2003 does extremely well.

By the same token, each program has its weak points.

It is like saying a Pippin Apple is better than a Gala. For an apple pie
give me a pippin every time. For a sliced with cheese the Gala might be
better.

Either program can be used to create a great site. Both can create crap. It
isn't as much the tool as the craftsman.

FP 03 is somewhat like version 4 of Dreamweaver from several years ago. They
are both good programs but DW seems to be more highly thought of by/for
professionals. There is definitely a prejudice against FP by many. The
learning curve is much steeper for DW.

I use both. I like some features in Dreamweaver more and other features in
FrontPage more. You can certainly say that one piece of software is better
than another. However, it is not valid to say that one will produce a
better site than another.

FWIW, the majority of the people who express that attitude have never used
FrontPage and most of them can't tell the difference between Word 'save as
HTML' and Frontpage code. Not exactly an informed audience.

I use both on a regular basis. It is rare that I work on a site just in
FrontPage. Use the tool appropriate to the job.
