FP '97 Upgrade?

Jason S.

I am in the market for a simple-to-use website construction prog. I do NOT
know HTML therefore the only prog I have ever used was MS Front page '97. I
had decent luck with it. But I have no idea what is available to day that
might be comparible to the prog and its ease of use ... @ least I thought it
was easy to use. I will be hosing a simple webpage for a local race car
driver and will be posting pics, points standings, text information, and I
will be attempting to create some graphics for the site via another program
which I am all set up with.

any other questions you may have for me in order to driect me in some
direction will be answered ASAP on here. Thank anyone who can take a minute
to give me some feedback.

take care,

FP 97 probably does not qualify for any upgrades
- too old

FP has been replaced by Expression Web
- you can get a free trial of EW
See http://www.microsoft.com/expression/try-it/Default.aspx

FrontPage 97 will not run on any of today's operating systems (except,
perhaps, Windows XP Pro with IIS installed). FrontPage 2003 is the last
version of FrontPage, and goes out of full Microsoft support today (Jan
9, 2009)

The replacement for FrontPage is Expression Web. This is nothing like
FrontPage 97, but is similar to FrontPage 2003. It is fairly easy to
use, but requires some knowledge of HTML: and CSS to get the best out of
it.

A thirty day trial of Expression Web is available from
http://www.microsoft.com/expression - do not forget the product key
linked to on the down load page.

In my opinion, Expression Web may be easier to use for a site started
from scratch, using one of EW's built in templates, rather than trying
to edit a FP97 site.
