FP and Excel: Any Workarounds Found?

N

Noel

Greetings:

I've been trying to include an Excel spreadsheet into a FP-
based website, which would allow the user to manipulate
the data onscreen without having to download the
spreadsheet. After perusing this site, I've found that it
can't be done like this. However, I was wondering if any
of you have found any work-arounds for this? The
transferrence to/from the host site doesn't work
correctly, as the Excel Workbook sharing is removed when
the page is posted in Frontpage.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Noel,

Question, is this for an intranet? If so, consider using an HTA instead of
an HTM page. Do so will allow you to open the Excel sheet and work with it
directly.

Just this: use a database rather than Excel.

Noel.

Thank you for your kind reply. However, in this instance,
the department I work for took a great amount of time to
develop the excel spreadsheet, and does not want to go
through the process of creating a new database that does
the same thing. They want to web-enable it, which I am
now confident to report to them that it is not possible.

Again, thank you for the time you took to reply to my
query. I hope you and yours have a great holiday season.

ooooooh... I've never heard of an HTA page! I'll go
research that, and see if it works! Thank you so very
much for your reply!

Noel.
