FP and preventing robots

Markus

I have some robots attacking my site. I found some info that including the
meta tag of <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX"> in a page can prevnet this.

I am a novice, so was wandering if I did this right. I left click on my
index page, and picked Page properties, then Custom, then Add System
Variable.

I named it, then put in <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX"> as the value.

I then did the same adding this tag to prevent the robot from following the
page:

<META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOFOLLOW">

Am I right in that this means a robot will not be able to index or follow
the page with these system variable defined on this page, or do I need to go
into the html code for the page to prevent the robots?

Appreciate any and all ideas on this. Thanks,
Markus

Bad robots will not read/honor those tags, nor will they honor a robots.txt file.

You would have to block them by IP address or User Agent, etc.

Attacked by robots.. OK

Good robots you want, that will exclude them.

Bad robots will ignore it.
