I have two computers side by side, one is Win XP and the other is Win2000.
Front Page 2000 is installed in both.
The usual way I update a web page is to open the page in Internet Explorer
Version 6.0 the then click 'File' and then 'Edit With Microsoft Front Page'.
This brings up a login dialog where I enter my user name and password and
front page opens the website for editing.
This method has worked fine on this pair of computer (and others) for a few
years and I am perfectly happy with it.
A couple of days ago the Win XP computer began to work differantly.
After I click 'Edit' and 'Edit With Microsoft Front Page' , an "Open With"
dialog box comes up asking "Choose the program you want to use to open this
file" If I choose "Microsoft Front Page" from the list then FP opens a
local copy of the page located at:
"C:\Documents and Settings\dickb\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files\Content.IE5\ZXKH06JG\allscrewedup[1].htm".
Can anyone suggest how to fix this problem.
Before anyone asks what have I changed on the Win XP computer, let me say I
installed Symantec Winfax Version 10.2 .
This is a handy Fax program, but unfortunately it kills MS Word 2000. This
is well documented problem, but since I only needed to send a single Fax I
installed it, sent the fax and then uninstalled Office 2000 and Winfax and
then reinstalled Office 2000.
I don't know if the current FP problem is associated with this or not .
