FP not formatting external hyperlinks properly

I created external hyperlinks on a page to open in new windows. FP formats
the hyperlinks like this:
<a "target=_blank" href=http:www.*****.com>
instead of placing the target string after the a href string.
Believe this is causing links from my site to not show up in google and is
hurting customer site rank.
Any suggestions?

The order doesn't matter, however the link should be written in the following format:

<a target="_blank" href="http://www.domainname.com">
