FP03 shared borders

Opened my FP2K site (which makes extensive use of shared borders) in FP03,
and got pop in lower right regarding custom authoring. It talked about
setting the shared border check box in page options. When I looked at that,
the check box was not checked, but the shared border entry in the menu was
available (i.e. was not greyed out). So I though all was well.

However, sometimes FP03 decides to reset all of the themed buttons in my
left border to plain links. It does this on its own, I do not do anything
explicitly with the those borders. I have discovered that I can set the
altered borders back to the correct themed border by choosing the desired
theme from the Style tab.

If it already knows about shared borders, why does this happen?

That little pop up has gone away, but it appeared again recently. This time
I thought I would set the Shared Border check box in Page Options. When I
did this, an info field in the lower right "status bar" all of a sudden
included the word "custom". Notably, there are now two such status bar
fields with the word "custom" in them. What are these? Why are there 2? Can
this lead to the silly border breakages described above?

The first "Custom" refers to what you include in the design of your pages -
Shared Borders, VML graphics, etc.
The second "Custom" refers to the Browsers you are designing for - NN4, IE5,
both etc. - and the scripting and CSS to be used.

If you change the settings, on the Page Options->Authoring properties sheet,
away from the defaults, one or both of these Custom items will appear.

Not having the Shared Borders ticked may break the borders in an existing
web - not ticking the box says the borders should not be there.
