FP2003 & FP2002 and publish?

Susan

I have 2 computers - 1st has FP2002 , 2nd has FP2003. I have been
experiencing problems with the 2nd with downloading and uploading files and
the Intenet connection (same ISP) so I decided to use FP 2002 on the 1st,
open my site, publish it to the local machine and then try to publish my
large pdf file out to the site. I did the site using FP2003 on the 2nd
machine so I was not sure if I would experience problems.

When I get on to FP2002 and open the site, I get the icon showing that it is
connecting to the server. Then the page loads but the link bars on the left
(shared border) and the top banner(shared border) does not show up on the
page. Also I am not prompted for the user id and password when it connects
to the server. It is as though it is importing the page???

Then when I try to use the Publish command, it does not point to the site
that I opened from the remote server. But points to a local website on the
computer and prompts me for the userid and password for the remote site that
corresponds to the local website.

Are the problems above because I did the website with FP2003 and FP2002
cannnot handle this?

Any suggestions please!
Thanks,
Susan

Are you using a DWT? FP2002 doesn't support this.

Re: FP2003 & FP2002 and publish?I had to use Help to find out that DWT is Dynamic Web Template. No, I did not use a DWT.

Please tell me though if the website is using something FP2003 does not support, wouldn't I be able to open it and be prompted for a userid & password before things go haywire?.

What steps are you using to open the site? It sounds as if you are using
"Edit with FrontPage" button in IE.
If you open FrontPage, then File->Open Web
either the web should open correctly, with userid-password request, or there
will be an error message you can post here.
