Bear with me as I'm new to this. I have past experience using FTP to
upload a website, but I'm new to SSL and FP03.
I have been trying to connect to my new website using FrontPage 2003
and failing dismally. The web server requires a certificate and
userid/password of course.
The first time I tried connection, it worked fine - briefly. Since
then, FP hangs just after the certificate communication occurs and
before it asks for userid and password. The Stop button will
terminate the hang if I try connection via "Open Recent Sites". If I
open via "Open Site...", then the hang is mortal, and the only way out
is to kill FP03 via task manager.
A successful workaround involves using FP2002 to perform the actual
"publish" operation. My web host guy told me that his other clients
use 2002 successfully, and it may be a 2003 problem, and it seems he's
right.
So right now, I'm editing under FP03, and publishing under FP02. Not
very convenient, and if I can get FP03 to do both, I'd be really
pleased!
Ideas? Has anyone else seen this problem?
Thanks, John
PS suggesting that the web server drop the SSL requirement is not an
option!
