FP2003 won't publish anywhere

Was running FP2000 on old computer with windows 98. no problems.
Transferred program and website files to new computer running windows XP.
UPgraded to FP2003 and program will NOT publish the web anywhere! I can't
even publish the files to a backup location on my computer. Program either
locks up (quits responding) or shuts down. I have followed all the steps
exactly in the help files. I can't believe Microsoft offers NO help without
charging $99.00 for an email or $35.00 for a phone call.

How did you "transfer" the webs to the new machine??

Also, how did you transfer "the program" to the new machine??

He loaded the old program with the Front page 2000 program disk. He
published the web to a CD rom and then brought the CD rom over to the new
computer and opened the website in Front Page. That may have been where the
problem started, because he was complaining that the navigation structure was
lost. This was last December. He fixed that, and I assumed everything was
working OK until I recently made some changes to the web pages and then tried
to publish the web to the server. That didn't work no matter what I tried,
so I thought maybe it was FP2000 and windows XP problems. I loaded (with the
disk) our new FP 2003 upgrade. And that's where we are today. Unable to
publish and I'm wondering why it won't even publish to a backup location.
(Thanks for your quick response.)

Does your host server have FrontPage Extensions, and are you trying to
publish using the http:// address??

Also, try this. Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and
download a copy of FP Cleaner.

Since you're using XP get the installer version.

Run it and run the functions that clear the FrontPage Temporary files and
the Cache(*.web) files.

Then try to publish.

Thanks for your help. Basically I started over. Reloaded FP2000 on old
computer and restored web site from a backup disk. UPloaded my changes.
Published the changed web site to my external hard drive and then opened the
file on the new computer with FP2003. Navigation structure intact.
Now I have some new problems, hopefully minor. I made a few more changes
and tried to upload with FP2003. It goes through the pubishing step without
shutting off or locking up the program, but it's not making the changes. In
the status windows it says "conflict" with a ? in front of the files that I
changed. How do I remove this conflict status or what causes it?

If your local copy is the most up to date, and you are certain of
that, then publish and when asked, overwrite the files in conflict.
Alternatively, use the Remote Web Site Properties -> Publishing tag to
publish All pages, which will bring the two webs back into synch.
