FPSE on extra hard drive necessary?

I want to 'publish' all my websites to a seperate hard drive from my
localdisk which is on my main drive, c - when I open a site in fp2003 and
try to publish to the extra hard drive, it says that I don't have FPSE
installed.... do I need to do that before I can get the sites backed up in
case of failure on my main harddrive? If I chose ftp to publish them, won't
I lose some of the dynamic effects?

Are your webs in IIS or are they file based at C:\My Documents\My Webs ??

If C:\My Documents\My Webs you can simply copy the root folders from
C:\My Documents\My Webs to the other drive.

no, they are on inetpub/wwwroot - so IIS - when I try to publish live from
the internet to my extra hard drive (not on inetpub/wwwroot) but just a
folder on d drive - it says that some items on my pages are dynamic and
might not be viewable .. or something like that...how do I install IIS on my
d drive?

You can't install extensions on D:\ without installing IIS and I don't think it can be done.

However should be able to browse to C:\Inetpub\wwwroot using Windows Explorer and copy and paste the
root folder for your web from there to a location on D:\

That said, you do realize that if there was ever a problem with your computer, you could publish
your webs from their servers back to your machine using FrontPage.

Copying C:\Inetpub\wwwroot to say D:\Inetpub\wwwroot will not make it run there under IIS unless in IIS Root Web Properties the Home
Directory Local Path is also changed

The best option would be to use Windows XP's NT Backup. Automatically installed under Windows XP
Pro, manual install under Windows XP Home.
