Fractions on Word

Is there is any way I can use a standard keyboard and MS Word 2000 to show
on documents fractions. I'm aware that half ½, quarter ¼ etc can be typed
using auto format. My need is to type any fractions ... say 2/3 or 7/8 so
that it will appear the same way ½ and ¼ or better still with horizontal
slash like you use in algebra. Any guidance is much appreciated.

I wrote a little macro which you run (with a keystroke) just after you
type a fraction such as 7/8 and it turns it into a slashed fraction
which looks almost exactly like the built-in ones. You then type a
space (if you need one) and carry on with the normal font size and
appearance.
If you are interested I can send it as text in an email and you can
make a macro yourself and assign a key combo to it.

Thanks to you all for pointing me in the right direction. I installed
Equation editor, however for fraction I read from the article that using EQ
function with \f switch I can achive what I want. Followed instructions
carefully and after hitting Shift F9, I don't see anything happening, just
blank. Am I missing anything? please advise.
