Fractions

Within Word, how can I insert fractions into text, that
look like fractions, and not text? I know that word will
automatically convert some, but not all. Some of the
fractions I use, are not listed in the "Insert Symbols"
list. I used to know how to do it many years ago, but now
I don't.

HELP!!!

Robert,

Tools|AutoCorrect Options|AutoCorrect|Replace with
fractions toggled will turn 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 into
fraction characters. That is it. You can stop
that behavior by toggling that option off. Some fonts may
offer additional fractions in the symbols set.

To your question, you can make fractions all look alike by:

1. Turn off the autocorrect feature above and use
standard text (i.e., 1/3, 1/2, 5/8, etc.)
2. Using CTRL+SHIFT+ (to superscript) the numerator,
CTRL+Spacebar (to standard) the / and CTRL+ (subscript)
the denominator.
3. Insert|Object|MS Equation Editor and enter fractions.
4. Insert|Field|EQ \F (X,Y)
5. Or use decimal fractions (e.g, .25, .5, etc.)

Could be others. I have an Autotext entry of method 4. I
created the x/y field and assigned it an Autotext name
(fraction). When I want a new fraction I must type frac
and hit enter. A new x\y field pops in and I
quickly edit the field code to display the numbers I want
to use.

I often learn that there could be better ways.

Hope this helps.
