Fractions

One of the most frustrating aspects of Word (and
PowerPoint) is the inability to display all fractions.
Only the very basic, such as 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, are
available. Many, many times I need fractions such as 1/3,
5/16, 3/8. My documents have one of two things - all
fractions done in regular font (such as displayed above)
or a mixture of the "true" fractions and the regular font.

The Equation Editor approach is completely unworkable.

Why can't someone do true fraction fonts? If the basic
ones (autocorrect) can be done, why not any fraction? I
simply cannot believe this is not possible.

Glenn, this is a great use for autocorrect, assuming there is a
finite number of fractions you need. You can create the fractions
in Equation Editor (or MathType, the professional version of
Equation Editor), and the fraction would be inserted simply by
typing 5/16 (or whatever). For a tutorial on this, see
<http://www.dessci.com/en/support/tutorials/autocorrect/tutorial.htm>.

If you truly need an infinite number of fractions, then there's
no font in the world that'll help you there. Your only solution
is to use Word's field codes or the Equation Editor/MathType
approach.
