Fragment text?

Is there a way to fragment the actual text inside a text box?
I would like to cut off the top part of a text and I can´t find a way to do
that. I can use all the shape operations on other shapes but it only works on
the text box not the text inside it.
If there is no way to do this maybe there is a tool to create single letters
as shapes?

I am not sure of the effect you are looking for, but you can create a
rectangular shape with no edge lines and place it over the portion of the
text you want to obscure.
