Frame problem after applying body text style

Hi, I have this problem:

I'm using Word for Mac 2004, I recently started using Styles to format
my documents (and I am thrilled how fast I can format my docs).

The thing is, when I finished writing a paragraph in Normal view (wich
is in Normal Style) and then apply a Body Text Style and switch to
Page Layout View there's a frame (with an anchor) arround the
paragraph I just applied the Style, and this make a mess between
paragraphs (making blank spaces between paragraps or braken last line
of text after the "framed paragraph"), so when I try to print the
document there are spaces or line text brakings between paragraps.

I usually solve that issued right-cliking the border of the frame and
going Format Frame>Remove Frame, but this a poor solution, specially
thinking I have to do it with all paragraphs.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ed,

styled formatting is indeed the most useful since sliced bread invention. As
far as your problem is concerned: my guess is that your paragraph style
(Body Text) has a frame as part of its properties. To get rid of it by
default, click on Format>Style, select Body Text (or whatever the concerned
style is called) from the list and then click on Modify in the lower right
corner. In the new window that shows up, click on the dropdown list in the
lower left corner and select Frame. In the following window, click on the
Remove Frame button. If this happens in every document you open, make sure
you check Add to Template just above the dropdown list in the main style
editing window. Click on OK, and you should not see these frames any more.

And just in case you're interested: I noticed you said:
when I finished writing a paragraph in Normal view (wich

If you are writing long documents, there are some very good advantages in
not using Normal style at all. I changed my Normal template so that it
displays two blank paragraphs [only], which are styled in a body text style
(not the default Body Text). That way, when I create a new blank document I
don't have to contend with Normal style at all.

This is addressed under "Styles and templates ‹ the keys to consistency and
saving time" starting on page 87 of some notes on the way I use Word for the
Mac, titled "Bend Word to Your Will", available as a free download from the
Word MVPs' website (http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]

It's good to read of your delight in starting to format your document in
styles! It's such a pity that so few people go beyond using Word as a
typewriter when such efficiency gains are available with just a little
study. In my document development work I save about 20-25% of my time by
using the techniques mentioned in "Bend Word to Your Will".

Cheers,
