Frame

I insert a picture into my document and then type a caption underneath. How
then do I draw a Frame around both? I have been creating a textbox,
inserting a picture in the box, typing a caption underneath the picture and
then converting the textbox into a frame. Surely there's a better way!

Thanks!!

You need to put the Frame command back on the Insert menu. Word 97 makes
this a bit of a challenge by calling the command "Horizontal" in the
commands list for the Insert category in Tools | Customize. If you don't
know how to add a command to a menu or toolbar, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/AsgnCmdOrMacroToToolbar.htm.
Alternatively, there's an Insert Frame button on the Forms toolbar.

I think the way you've been doing it is pretty creative, frankly.

Could you use a table with one big cell, and include what you want framed in
that table?
