Frames Pages Dropping in my Browsers

B

Brian

Dear FP Community,

I have developed my website and on the whole it looks great - I plumped for
a frame page lay-out instead of using my traditional shared borders.

This works fine most of the time but for some reason my internet browser(s)
firefox and/or IE6 appears to drop the frames and just displays the main
webpage. I cannot work out why it only happens sometimes and it works fine
most of the time.

Where am I going wrong or what can I do to make sure the frames load ALL of
the time?

Many Thanks,

Brian

You need to make sure you're browsing to the frameset page (one would assume
that would the be "index.htm" page) that contains the other pages, and not
just browsing to the individual page.

Set your browser home page for the same as above.

Frames are problematic just like shared borders as you've discovered - there
are better alternatives such as include pages or dynamic web templates.

Andrew,

thanks for the advice - indeed my index page is where I've set my frames.
Pretty confident people aren't browing directly to the actual page which I
would understand why then a frame wouldn't show.

Example - at home the frames show perfectly fine on my PC (have done my best
to break it as well) whereas at work my browser (IE) shows the frames when i
log onto the main index page but any hyperlinks I click thereafter the page
drops the frames!!! Is there any setting or coding I can manipulate to sort
it out?

Cheers,

Brian
