Free Form Tagging of Notes?

I would like to be able to tag my notes with more than just the list
of tags I create in Onenote. I would just like to be able to free
form tag things with relevant terms and thoughts, etc. It does not
seem as though onenote allows this? Is there an add-on that would
allow this? Thanks!

OK, I did find this thread:

Looks like tagging is not an option for now. Seems like this should
be standard in all software these days.

In a manner of speaking you can "tag" notes with any tag you want simply
by prefacing (or otherwise annotating) the note(s) in question with a
keyword of some manner that means something to you and. You can then
use the Search function to find/aggregate them all.

Just use keywords that aren't likely to appear randomly in the text.
For instance I might do something like:

[MyTag:AssgndToJana]

Or

[MyTag:AssgndToCat]

Or

[MyTag:AssgndToMelissa]

(or you can find a shorter expression) and "tag" items accordingly. If
I do a search on that string only my "tags" will be returned.

That is a great idea and of course begs the question: why didn't I
think of that? However, there is a limitation to this. I can't seem
to find a way to get it to "aggregate" the tags in anyway. The sort
options seem to be only date, title and section. If I just put a tag
in the body of the note, it will not aggregate by the tags at all. If
I use something like you suggested, and did a search for MyTag it
would return a list of pages with the word MyTag, but would not group
them by the tag that follows MyTag. I guess at that point, I could
simply find what I am looking for in the list and do a new search for
the exact term, which would aggregate. It would just be really nice
to have the tagging functionality I have become used to these days,
which would have an automatically updating category list and/or tag
cloud.

Again, this seems like a fairly simple but very useful potential
powertoy add-in idea. I wish I was a programmer.
