Free Memory / Update Display

C

ChuckL

I am receiving a message in Access occasionally when I
open forms in my database. The message reads: "There
isn't enough free memory to update the display. Close
unneeded programs and try again". I tried closing all
other programs and I still get the message occasionally.

Where this worries me is in a multiple user environment.
I plan on having up to 30 people in this shared database
at the same time running reports and charts on a regular
basis. Is there anything that I can do to avoid this
message in the future?

Thanks much for your help.

This was a known problem in Access 2000 that was fixed in Office 2000 SP1.
If you used a gif or jpg (I don't remember which) file as the forms
background, such as the supplied background files, and you alternated
between design view and form view there was a memory leak that would
eventually get you to the point you mention. The only thing to do once you
got there was to save everything and reboot.

Office 2000 is now up to SP3. SP3 has some very important bug fixes for
Access 2000 and I highly recommend you update to it. Also, install the
newest Jet service pack.
