He found an icon with information how to START the free 60 day trial.
Seems the Product Key it's asking for is on a Works CD that came with
his computer. Now he has to find that CD! LOL
I'd dump the trial version and the viewer, reboot, and download the
viewer again. But that's just me.

No, he didn't. Do you think that if he did, the PowerPoint download
would work without asking for the Product Key?
Did he try uninstalling the trial version of Office?

Carey,
He had already downloaded it, but kept getting the Product Key
request. (I couldn't think of the name when I said the number from
the CD case - I meant Product Key). He apparently had a 60-day MS
Office free trial that came with the computer (that he has never
used). Even clicking on PowerPoint there (Start-Programs-MS Office,
etc.) asked for the Product Key. Well, he doesn't have a product
key, so how can he get around that?

| I'm inquiring for a friend who does not have MS Office. I
thought there was
| a free PowerPoint Viewer for those who do not have Office. He
tried to
| download it, and it apparently downloaded OK, but when he tries
to run it,
| he gets a window asking for the number from the CD case, as if he
DID have
| Office! This all started because someone sent him an e-mail
with a .pps
| attachment, which he can't view. Any suggestions?
