Free rotate greyed out...

Pete

I'm trying to rotate some Equation Editor equations, but when I select
them, the free rotate tool is greyed out. It 's greyed out for all my
imported tiff images, too. Any thoughts?
I'm using Word X on a with OS 10.3.7

Thanks for your quick resonse, Beth. Unfortunately, equations don't
work the same way. There is an option in the menu to Convert..., but
when I open the Convert window, the only thing available to convert the
Equation Editor object to is another Equation Editor object. Not much
help :)

Any other thoughts out there?

Thanks,

Pete

Pete, Word doesn't let you rotate equation objects. Your only
option is to convert it to a graphic. The best way to do that is
to use the professional version of Equation Editor -- MathType.
With MathType, you can save the equation as a PICT or a GIF.
(PICT, preferably.) Word will let you rotate either of those
formats, but only if it is NOT set to be "In line with text". To
change it, ctrl+click on the GIF or PICT equation, then select
Format Picture > Layout > "In front of text". Then you can rotate
it.

(ps: Even if you change the properties of an equation object to
"In front of text", Word still won't let you rotate it.)

Convert to a picture via Copy/Paste Special/Picture?

Hi JE,

Nice idea, but strangely when you convert an equation (a fraction for
example) to a picture via copy/paste special, and then try to free
rotate, the numbers and fraction bar revolve around each other without
rotating. Strange planetary behavior, eh?

I worked around the problem by creating the equations I needed to
rotate in OmniGraffle and pasting them in, but it would still be nice
to have the option in Word...
