Freeze panes

Hello gang,
Today I have one simple question. I have noticed that when I have sheet with
lots of columns and I do freeze panes in let say column AJ (which is out of
the range of display at that partucular zoom) the bootom scroll bar is no
longer working - so I cannot move between cell -to A or AI cell.

However when I change the zoom let say to 20% so that AJ column is within
the range of columns which fits into the screen the scrool bar is working
again.

I did overcome the trouble by split window, but freeze panes would be more
handy for me. Is this intended behaviour or some bug? (same in Mac offce
2004 and PC 2003)
Thanks for replay.

You notice correctly, the scrollbar only works in the portion of the screen
to the right, or below the freeze panes. One solution, though not my
favorite, is to use Split Screen instead of Freeze Panes. Of course you can
use the keyboard to navigate within the freeze pane.

It's a bug, but it's easily bypassed. Enter a cell address to the right
of your desired cell (say, AZ1) in the name box, followed by
Return/Enter, to take you to that cell.

Now the scroll bar will take you that far and back. You can also use the
arrows to take you column-by-column - the scroll bar will retain the
ability to scroll to the farthest right column you select that way.

JE McGimpsey,
thanks a lot, I was away for some time, so that's why it took me a bit
longer to response. However, when I enter the cell address in the name
box I can see the value which is stored in the cell but still It
doesn't transport me to that cell. The problem is that I have chart
there which I cannot access when freeze panes activated.

Try putting a value (can be hidden) in a cell to the right of the chart.
