freeze up in Outlook

I have a problem with my computer, Outlook 2000 will
freeze when you try to delete e-mail or exit (delets on
exit) , Word
2000 will freeze when you exit
program or when you "save-as" , Publisher has also froze.
You have to CTRL-Alt-Delete
to get unfroze (then you can delete
mail in Outlook normally for one time then it's back to
freeze up next time you
delete of exit)

What I have done to fix problem ( not
worked by the way) scanned for virus with Norton and AVG
(nothing there)
also run fix mode in Office 2000
small buisness (nothing) deleted Office and reinstalled
(nope not better) ,
Run XP CD to try and find and fix
problem ( still freezes) .

I have been installing windows
updates as the come down from the heavens so I should be
up to date there.

Any help to find a solution to my
freezing problem would be a big help.

What I have is: Pentium 4
PIV 1.6ghz processor socket 478
Socket 478 MB w / sound / lan
512 DDR Memory
40 GB Hdd 7200 rpm
64MB Geforce IImx w/Video out
XP for home

I assume that your My Documents folder is located on the local disk as well
and not on a networkshare? See if it is still accessible. Also make sure
that it doesn't hold a sub folder also named My Documents.

Try running scandisk and see if it comes up with anything or even run a tool
that checks the physical condition of your harddrive. These diagnostic tools
probably came with your computer or is available at the harddisk suppliers
website.
