Yes, a few people are having issues like this. The generic cause is bugs in
the software.
However, since you did not say which version of Mac OS, or Word that you are
using, I can't answer.
I assume the MacBook was new, and thus has an Intel processor?

I purchased my MacBook about a month ago. Over the past couple of weeks I have
been noticing that whenever I use Word or Powerpoint my computer will slow
down, the fan will get loud, and the computer gets hot. The past day or two my
computer has been completely freezing up when I'm in Powerpoint. I made sure I
have all of the updates downloaded and everything. Is anyone else having this
problem? I'm not sure what to do...
