Freezing Up

Bill Haskell

I have installed Microsoft Office 2004 with PowerPoint 11.3.5 on my IMac
with OS X Version 10.4.10.

A good portion of the PowerPoint slide shows that I receive freeze up my Mac
when the first slide comes up. Using the Force Quit, the notation says that
PowerPoint is not responding. None of the slide shows play the audio, which
must be embedded because the audio plays on a Windows PC (not the PP
originating machine). The slide shows run fine with sound on the windows
machine. What can I do to get the same slide show to run on my IMac and
with sound?

Thanks for any help,

Bill

Hey Bill,

I just found a very good solution in Microsoft's support page, it's actually
very simple, here it is:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892961/en-us?spid=2524&sid=global

Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac:
1. Create a new PowerPoint for Mac presentation.
2. On the Insert menu, click Slides from File.
3. Locate the slide show that you have been trying to open.
4. Make your selection to either Insert all slides or Select slides to
insert.
5. Click Insert

It not only works, but it's actually very cool since you can even edit the
presentation. Or simply watch it using page down instead of waiting for the
texts to draw letter by letter.

I had another solution which you may want to try just out of sheer curiosity
is:

1. Save the .pps file to your desktop
2. Send it to the trash, either by dragging it or by right-click Move to
Trash
3. Open your trash can and drag the file back to your desktop
4. Open the file.

It doesn't actually work everytime, but it's a curious fact.

Enjoy.

Luis.
