Hi. I recently moved to France and purchased a copy of Office 2008 in France as I will not be returning to the US anytime soon. I do not however read French very well, therefore, I would like to change all the menus to English from French. How do you do this? The rest of the languages are English on the computer

Is there a language switcher, as there was with Office 2004, so you
can activate Asiatic features? This feature was only available in the
English versions of Office 2004, but perhaps MS has come to its senses
and adds it to the French version as well.
I have looked on the web sites and that information is nowhere to be
found. Of course they have no idea at FNAC.

As the Japanese switcher was not present in the French version of
Office 2004 - only in the English version, I assume it is possible
that it still is absent in 2008, unless someone confirms that it is
indluded.

hints that one still has to follow this procedure:
1. In the Finder, open Microsoft Office 2008/Additional Tools/
Microsoft Language Register.
2. On the Select the language to enable for Microsoft Office 2008 pop-
up menu, click Japanese, and then click OK.
You use the language register to activate additional Japanese features
like vertical text, phonetic guides and search options, and so on.
Typing in Japanese, however, should be possible even wihtout this
feature, as you figured out.

The applications having been "rewritten from the bottom", I can't say if the
Microsoft Language Register could now be installed on a French version if
one could get the hands on. Guess it's worth a try...
