Frequent crashes editing a list

I have a .xls spreadsheet with 3 sheets. One sheet uses the List Manager. A second sheet is a Pivot Table based on the data in the list. The third sheet is standalone with no special features.

I had no problem with this spreadsheet in Office v. X. But with Office 2008, doing any type of editing in the list is a struggle to save before it crashes -- it crashes after typing in a few fields.

The crashes seem to be random. Sometimes it will crash when exiting the first field I type in. But other times I can enter an entire row or more.

I thought that since the latest update (12.1.5) fixed stability issues with pivot tables that it might fix this one, but no joy.

I tried saving it as a .xlsx and then editing that version, thinking that if the issue was corruption in the file, converting to XML would fix it. But it still crashes.

Below is the error report from the latest crash.

I find it interesting that both the RAM size and CPU speed are wrong.

Any ideas? I'd hate to have to revert back to v. X.
