Frequent errors in word

D

Dave

Hi all,
I am really getting frustrated by recurrent errors in MS
word. It keeps telling me that a "serious error has
occured and word has to close". This happens so often
that it is getting to me. Of course it recovers my work
before it closes, but I don't need this extra distraction.
I am using the MS office 2003 on Windows xp pro. SDRAM
520 mb cpu sped 2.0 gh.
thanx!

Hi Dave

Recurrent errors that don't seem to have any specific or repeatable cause
are often caused by a corrupt Normal.dot or other mess - especially .tmp
files - left behind from the earlier crashes.

You can force Word to use a clean Normal.dot by renaming the file.

Do you send your error reports after a crash? Occasionally these will send
back useful information on the cause of the crash.
