Frequent "The Application Entourage shut down unexpectedly" occurances

I'm a new Mac/Entourage user....I had no problem getting Entourage set
up, but I now Entourage is frequently shutting down and I receive the
message "The Application Entourage shut down unexpectedly" messages
(which I do report to Apple). Any suggestions as to what is going on
and fixes to prevent this from happening so frequently?

Thanks

If it's an Entourage error, then the report goes to MS. If you are sure the
report is an Apple error report, then the error is with your system.

Some things to try:
1) Look in System Preferences --> Accounts --> Login Items. Check for
duplicate Microsoft Database daemons. If there is more than one, delete all
and Entourage will create a new one when you launch.

2) Run Repair Permissions. Directions here:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/glossary/repair_permissions.html>

3) Restarting your Mac will open fix some problems.

4) Test Entourage in a new User. Go to System Preferences --> Accounts -->
Click on the unlock box at the bottom --> Enter Password --> Click on the +
button. Create a test User. Switch users by logging out or using Fast User
Switching. Test Entourage in this new User. Does the problem still exist? If
no, then the problem is in your Users folder. If yes, then it's a system
level problem and you need to do an Archive and Install.

If the problem is in your User's folder, try Rebuilding your Entourage
database.

If you are still having problem, let us know and give as much detail as
possible.

Since you are a new Mac user, I suggest joining the Mac-L talk list. It's a
great place to get help and learn about the Mac.
