Front/Back end security problems

Hi:

I have a backend in Access97 with various front ends from
xp to 97 for two different database applications. I have
code in one database which opens and adds records to the
other's tables. This works fine with the XP version but
in 97 I get a "Records can not be read; no read
permission on table" error.

I've checked the permissions on all the files and I'm
logged in as the owner.

Any ideas?
