Front end database

Does anyone have recommendations on the best way to update the front end
database when it is on the users computer?

1. Always keep a copy of the database on your computer.
2. Make the changes there.
3. Give the users a new copy once you have completed and tested the
changes.

Thank you very much Lynn. Do you have any recommendations on how to get the
new copy to the user if they are physically in another location or area of
the building?

You have several options.

1. Place the new version of the front end on the server and teach your
users how to copy it to their hard drive.
2. Create a batch file that they can run that will copy the new version to
their PC.
3. Put the new file on a CD and have them copy it from there (they will
probably need to change the Properties of the file from Read Only if you use
this method).
4. Email them a copy of the new file. If you, or they, use Outlook, you
will need to rename the file temporarily so that it does not have a .mdb
extension.
