Front Page 2003 Big question

Dear friends:

FP 2003 May 15, 2006

My present web site, namely www.latinmass.bravepages.com
was created by this author, some years ago with FP 2000; having currently
some 5,100 files and hundreds of images inserted. . Before I install a newly
purchased FP 2003 ; does it mean that I must start from "scratch" in order
to make use of the new and wonderful features of FP 2003 that I may wish to
apply to my current website. I am currently using FP 2K Themes as well
throughout my website. To put the question in another way: Can I transfer
all the "Formatted Data" in my current FP 2K web over and into the newly
installed FP 2003 program and revise or make the useful-feature-changes from
within the new FP2003 software?

Just open the live/remote site in FP (must have the FP extensions installed) and publish a copy to
your local PC, then you can edit it with FP2003 while still having your live site intact.

me of FP 2003 in 7 days , I should like to ask the following question (so) :

1] I presume that I may install the FP-03 while keeping FP 2K on my HD ,
for now. I can proceed to revise the "Copied" version of the "Old" ,
locally, and when the metamorphoses is completed to the New current version
, I may publish the same , i.e. the themes and all the formatted changes and
all other newly created features will automatically be applied to my remote
site. [ Fp extensions having been previously installed]
2] Is this correct or have I missed something?
3] Do you have any further sage "caveats"?

Yes, as long as you publish the modified copy from your local back to the live/remote server using
the Change Pages Only option.

Here's what I would do (again presuming you have FP extensions installed &
working on the remote server):

Open FP2003
File | Open Site
type in http://www.latinmass.bravepages.com/

Then
File | Publish Site
now enter your location you normally save your webs to on your hd...only
specify a NEW web name...lets say latinmass2
do a complete/full Publish to this new location.

This way you'll have your old site and your newly copied site under a
different name and your old one as a fall-back.

I have been wondering about this, too, but I'm afraid I don't understand Mr.
Rowe's response. I have FP 2000 also--is that the version whose FP
extensions need to be installed? I need clearer directions, because I guess
it's time I upgraded to FP 2003.

Also, I am trying to post a new question, but when I click on New, the
dialog box does not come up (this has happened before). If someone reading
this could explain this, I'd appreciate it.

Thank you for your response . Thanks to one and all.
All the suggestions have merit.
I will test them, when I receive the FP-03 software.

Here's what I would do (again presuming you have FP extensions installed &
working on the remote server):

Open FP2003
File | Open Site
type in http://www.latinmass.bravepages.com/

Then
File | Publish Site
now enter your location you normally save your webs to on your hd...only
specify a NEW web name...lets say latinmass2
do a complete/full Publish to this new location.

This way you'll have your old site and your newly copied site under a
different name and your old one as a fall-back.
