front page permissions and file share

We host our web site and have almost 100 faculty member who publish their web
pages on the server. Currently they access their folders via file share
permission and work on their pages locally. Frontpage Server extensions 2002
installed and it runs on windows 2003 server (iis 6).

Some of the facutly are having access problem on their shared folder
although they have full access. All ntfs share and security permissions are
ok.
Sometimes if I recreate the folder and give the permissions it fixes the
problem, but not for all of them.

Do I have to give permission through Server Extensions? I don't want to
create so many sub webs on the server. Also they should not have write access
to others' folders.

Thanks for help

You need to set up each user under the FP extensions to a have the necessary rights, as well as
having a Windows login.

if I set up each user under the FP extensions as a author of the site, does
not each user will have modify priviliges on all of the files? Each user
should modify just their files in their folders.

thanks for help

Each author you set up will have privileges for the entire site. Maybe you
should set up subwebs/subsites for the individuals and give them author
rights exclusively to that subweb.
