Ingvar Gustafsson

Can you help me?
Start Frontpage (2000 ver. 4.0.2.6655)
Select Help
Select Microsoft FrontPage Help
Select Index
Enter Keyword subweb
Choose Topic About Publishing
In the right frame a square icon shows up below
a two-line text "About Publishing"
When pressing the icon I get the following error message
Error: Object doesn't support this property or method
fphhctrl.HHClick
Code:0
URL: mk:mad:MSITStore:C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%
20office\1033\frontpage.chm::/Concard_PUB001_tn.htm

Thanx in advance.

Make sure you have all the latest MS O SP from
http://office.microsoft.com/ProductUpdates/default.aspx and for your OS
Then run a repair/ reinstall of FP (make sure all virus protection is shut down)

Same problem can be reproduced in Excel Help
by e.g. selecting in Excel
Help
Index
Type text Addin
select Quick calculations on a worksheet(Insert Totals)
The same symbol as in my FP-problem shows up and a similar
message shows up
but with xlhhctrl_1.HHClick

Please help.

Ingvar,

This problem is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base article 822989
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=822989). Unless you've installed
Service Pack 4 for Windows 2000, the solution should be to apply
Critical Update 811630, which is available from:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=811630

I'm starting to see reports that installing Windows 2000 SP4 *causes*
this problem. If you're a Windows 2000 user and have installed SP4,
the solution is to first to run this command from a command prompt:

regsvr32 /u <drive>:/winnt/system32/hhctrl.ocx

and then run this command:

regsvr32 <drive>:/winnt/system32/hhctrl.ocx

The first command unregisters the HTML Help ActiveX control, which is
what provides the navigation features in the help files; the second
command re-registers the control. This should fix the broken registry
entries that are responsible for the problem.
