Frontpage 2000 unstable under XP Home.

O

OutsourcedEngineer

I have installed/uninstalled/installed FP 2000 with SR-1
updates several times but it is not stable under Windows
XP Home edition. I am using an Apache Server with FP2000
Extensions. I know that the problem is not with the
server since I also have FP2000 running under Windows
2000 to the same site with no problems.

Here are some examples:

* Create a new style sheet with modified body {font-
family: Arial; font-size: 10pt }. When the .css file is
saved, a Microsoft Application File error report is
generated due to a Kernel Application Error. In some
cases, the same thing happens when creating a new HTML
page.

* I may be asked to log into the server several times
during an editing session - where only one login is
needed under Windows 2000.

* Miscellaneous features are not working consistently
(mouse wheel etc.)

One possible problem area is that Office 2003 is
installed on the Windows XP Home System but I haven't
seen any issues listed on the web. If I upgrade FP2000
to FP2003 will it work with the Apache FP2000 Server
Ext? Are there other site upgrade issues?

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for any help.

I have no problems with FP2000 under Windows XP Home or Pro, but I also do not have FP2003 on the
same system.

There however is a known issue of edit .css files in FP2000 under Windows XP, you need to set
Notepad as the editor for .css files under FP2000.

MS really doesn't support have multiple version of Office Apps on the same machine.

FP2003 will work with FP2000 or FP2002 extensions, and it support all FP2002 features that requires
the FP2002 extensions.

Make sure you have the latest mouse, video drivers installed and all updates.
