Frontpage 2000K and XP Home edition

I am trying to publish a multiple page web site I created in Frontpage 2000.
I have XP Home Edition. From what I've read, I CAN'T publish a website from
Frontpage 2000 if I have XP Home Edition. I don't understand this. Please
advise alternatives.

If you want a local web server, i.e., from a pc in your home, IIS comes with
XP Pro but not XP Home. Is that what you're wanting to do? -Fred

Ginny,

Can you be a bit clearer about what you are trying to do?

You can publish a copy of your live website to your local computer using a
Disk Based Web or DWT. You will not be able to preview pages that have
webbots that require the FrontPage Server Extensions locally but you can
publish to your local hard drive to work locally or to make a backup of your
website.

Yes you can....just publish it from Frontpage.

I don't know if you're talking about publishing it to http://localhost or
whatever - this requires a web server such as IIS which is not included in
XP Home. But general web publishing with Frontpage is and should be
allowed.

I have a website for my organization. www.newcomersandneighborsshelton.org.
I have a domain and the company that supports the domain and website has
frontpage capabilites. When I go to publish button in Frontpage and try to
publish my webpage to the above address I get an error message saying I don't
have 32 bit IIS etc. So I guess from your statement below, I need to upgrade
my XP system to PRO? I did publish it to a disc/file but I need to be able
to publish it to the internet.

Can I download from Microsoft.com just the components of XP Pro that I would
need to allow me to publish to the internet?

FrontPage 2000 and Windows XP Home come with everything you need to
publish a FrontPage web site to the Internet.
The error message you are receiving indicates a fault in one component
or other - it could also be a problem with a firewall. Please post
the exact and complete error message in this thread.

Hey here is the error message I keep getting when I push the publish
button:"accessing HTTP servers requires 32-bit TCP/IP networking, which is
not installed or may be misconfigured.

Have you got a firewall such as ZoneAlarm installed on your local pc? If
so, that's probably the issue. You'll need to properly configure it.

At least disable it for now to test the publishing.
