FrontPage 2002 locks up when I want to make a hot spot from a grap

I have been using FrontPage 2002 on a Win XP prof PC fro a number of months.
I have made several web pages including graphics from where I link via hot
spot to book mark in the same document.
Suddenly this is no more possible.
When I select the graphic and marks the hot spot area with the rectangular
tool, FrontPage locks up. I am not able to do anything but close the link
window which closes FrontPage as well.

I have rebooted from cold but no success.

Any ideas??

Can you "file, save as"? Does it crash then too?

If not, then not sure. If yes, then you probably have a corrupted header.
(The part between the <head> tags at the top of the file.)

What happens when you open a "browse" box in FP is it looks at all the files
and grabs the header information, then uses it to decide what icon to use
(FP, or MS Word edited doc, for example, the title, and so on).

When it gets to the one that is corrupted, it crashes FrontPage.

There are work arounds that don't involve using that box, but it's a pain to
do all the time. (For example, copy and paste into the HTML code instead.)

When I encounter this problem, I publish to a "sub web" then use random
access elimination to figure out what file is the problem. (Delete half,
say from P-Z for file name first letter, test. If it fails, you know the
file is still left. If it doesnt, then re-publish and delete from P-T this
time, if it doesnt fail you know the file is T-Z, etc.) When you find the
file, just delete and recreate it, or just mess with the header until it is
fixed.

You could also just look at the headers of all the files and make sure they
are neat and tidy, especially make sure you do not have carriage returns in
meta-tags, but it is not always that. If you don't know hand coding HTML,
you are unlikely to find the problem this way.

Since I started using FP2003, I don't have this problem ever. So maybe if
you are thinking of upgrading now is the time.

Thank you for your hints.
I am able to change in the page and save as I like. It is only when I ad the
hotspot I encounter the problem with locking up.
I have looked into the problem and compared the code of the bad page and of
a god one.
From <head> down to <body> now difference. The area around the image and the
map doesn’t show any difference.
Then I tried to build a test page with the same graphic and to insert a hot
spot in the graphic with link to a book mark in the same page. This worked
fine.
Finally I gave in and deleted the troublesome part of my page graphic and
map in the code view. Sawed the page and inserted the graphic again, made the
hotspots all over again. Now every thing works fine.
Regards
Jorgen
