Frontpage 2002 publishing and hover buttons

J

Julie

Platform: Windows XP
Package: Frontpage 2002
Problem: Bog-standard site, straightforward links +
bookmarks within the site, and external emal.
When published to our in-house server, which has
Frontpage Extensions, the site works OK from my and
various other machines. However, from a couple of other
m/cs (one running XP, one running 2000) the buttons on
the Home Page aren't displayed and neither right nor left-
click brings up the associated links.
PLEEEEEASE don't tell me it's because I've used hover
buttons!
If it is: WHY THE ****** **** DOESN'T IT SAY IT
ANYWHERE!!!!
And,if I can't use them, what should I use instead?
Please, someone help me keep a precarious hold on what
passes for my sanity!

Hover buttons require Java Virtual Machine which can be
downloaded from http://java.sun.com
However, most people have quit using Hover Buttons
because windows XP / IE6 do not come with JVM installed.

It's been discussed over and over in the FrontPage newsgroups.

It's because you've used hover buttons. (Sorry.)

They require Java. Microsoft used to include Java with its OS's but no
longer does. That's why many computers won't display them.

Use Dynamic DHTML rollover effects instead.

HTH,
Craig
