Frontpage 2003 editing trouble

C

Chris A

I use Frontpage 2003 and currently have two websites. I do all of my editing
online in real time. I have had one site up a running for six years and the
other site is new. I went online to edit the new site and I noticed that it
did not prompt me for a username and password, it just went into editing mode
but when there I could not access the navigation structure. So I decided to
check my old site and It did ask for a username and password but it would not
take my information. So I pressed the cancel button and it did let me in to
edit the site but I cannot access the navigation structure in this site
either. Any instruction on what may be wrong would be appreciated. thank you
in advance.

Sounds like you are editing your online website by the "Edit with Frontpage"
button on your IE browser toolbar maybe?

You should open your webs by
Open FP
File | Open Site
then http://www.yoursite.com you should get prompted for un/pw if you don't
you need to contact your host.

Rob,

Thank you for responding. Just so you know I'm a novice at this so please
bear with me. I opened frontpage, went to file, and then to open site. It
only gives me the option to open the web files on my comuter not the files on
my site on the web. Maybe I'm missing a step?

When you have the File Open Site dialog open type in your site URL in the form
http://www.yoursitename.com/

Stefan,

I did as you said and I was able to get to my sight on the web. It prompted
me for the un/pw and I filled it in appropriately. The box keeps resetting
and asking for my information. This all started as soon as I published my new
site to the web. The new site has a different URL and a different host but
for some reason I'm having this problem with both sites. Thanks,

Are you using the new and different username and password information
assigned to you for that site by your different provider?

The odd thing is that the new site does not prompt me for a username and
password. When I discovered this I then tried to access the old site and that
is when I noticed that I could not get my unsername and password to work for
that site.

Contact your host for both sites to determine the correct credentials and find out if the new site has the FP Server Extensions
installed
- how was the old site "transferred" to the new site (it must be published using FP)

| password. When I discovered this I then tried to access the old site and that
