Frontpage 2003 Errors

Carissa Anne

I have created several web sites using Frontpage. Yesterday I opened it to
discover that my layers options was no longer available. I also noticed that
the tables are somehow automatically mathematically adjusting to fit my
content. Also when I view my design in "preview" mode, it doesn't look like
my design version. I have to keep going back and forth, tweeking everything
to get it lined up correctly. Several features are now available that
weren't there and the features I had before are no longer there. Can anyone
help? Everything is messed up.

PLEASE USE (e-mail address removed) TO REPLY IF POSSIBLE. I DON'T HAVE MSN
ANYMORE.

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE

You can also get FP Cleaner at http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm
which will do most of this for you.

After you do that go back to Tools, Page Options, Authoring and make sure
all the boxes are checked and the drop downs are set to Custom.

Thank you for that information. I had not tried that. What I did just do
was a system restore to a previous date when I knew things were working. it
is working fine now, but do you think it will stay that way?

It might but running FP Cleaner doesn't hurt. In fact you might want to run
it once a week just to keep everything "clean". The only one you wouldn't
want to do (unless FP won't start) is to "Restore Default Toolbars and
Menus" This deleted the CMDUI.PRF file which contains all your custom
settings so unless FP doesn't start you wouldn't want to lose those.
