FrontPage 2003 Install Error

I bought a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium. I had FrontPage
2003 installed on my old machine, which had Windows XP Media Edition machine
for the operating system. I get the following error message when trying to
install FrontPage 2003 on my Windows Vista Home Premium machine:

The product key you entered requires a version of Microsoft Office 97,
2000 or XP to upgrade. If one of these versions of Microsoft Office is
not installed on your machine, you will need to supply a version of
Microsoft Office on CD-ROM in the next step. Click OK to continue with
the upgrade or click Cancel to stop the installation.

It means your copy of FP is an Upgrade (not a full version) that requires
one of the qualifying products listed to complete the installation of
FP2003.

Thanks. Evidently, the wrong CD was shipped in the software I bought from an
Office Supply store. I bought what I thought was a full version of
FrontPage. The package says "Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003", but the CD
inside does say "upgrade". I doubt if I can find my old FrontPage 2000 CD.
I guess I'm dead in the water.

I have the same problem as Harriet- upgrade version.
Currently running FP2003 on an XP machine- purpose is to keep our small site
together- when changes are made i utilize Ipswitch to upload changes. its all
clean, simple- which is about what i can handle.
Moving to a new machine running Vista- yet to decide what Office product to
buy.
Will (If I can find a full version copy) FP2003 operate on Vista?
Or is there a better option that will still allow me to utilize the existing
design- I don't want to go through the entire building process again?

I have same problem. And I rember that that FrontPage before vista would ask
you for previus version of the ProntPage and not MS Office, I have old MS
Office 2002, but it does not accept. I think that Microsoft made a big
mistake and a huge bug to ask non related products to FrontPage as
requirement for upgrade. It shoild be only the requirement a previous version
of FrontPage.

validates our software so wouldn't they have the product key for frontpage
2003? When I bought mine here, it doesn't say upgrade on the cover. You
have to purchase the software first before you can open it and when you open
it then it shows you upgrade. I can't take it back, so somebody needs to
give us a product key that will work instead of this upgrade product key

If you don't own a prior full version of FP and bought an upgrade no product key will help you
- you will need to buy a full version of FP (or a prior full version)

All legal MS upgrade software identifies the products required in order to use the upgrade
- if yours doesn't it is probably from a prior owner or a bootleg copy

MY ENTIRE HOUSE BURNED DOWN AND EVERYTHING IN IT!!!

I paid good money for what I thought was another copy of frontpage 2003. IT
DOES NOT SAY UPGRADE ON THE COVER. You only know that it is a upgrade when
you break the seal (which you cannot do until you pay for it!). When you
open it up then it says UPGRADE. I think that this is underhanded, and
something should be done about us being deceived. If I could get my other
disks, or my other computer, I would have done so. I wouldn't of had to
purchase another copy.

Now I validated all of the products that I had on my other computer with
microsoft. Is there a way I can get those product keys so that I can
download and reinstall my other products which will enable me to install this
one?

And by the way, we buy our products, I'm 52 and don't do bootleg or pirate
stuff. Don't get it twisted.

If you registered (not validated) your software with Microsoft, they should
have a record of it and may be able to provide you with a replacement CD:

I had the same problem as I tried to install FP2003 (from an upgrade CD) on
my new Vista (64bit). To solve:
1. Started with the FP2003 CD (which is an upgrade) and followed the
instructions as presented. I had my FP 98 (full product) handy!
2. When I got the error/request for qualifying product, I inserted the
Office 97 CD (which I hadn't used since Win95 days!) and followed the
instructions.
3. I removed the Office 97 CD and inserted the FP 2003 when another error
message occured and continued to follow the instructions.

It loaded fine! Oh, I never needed FP 98 or Office 2003 (that is loaded on
the Old XP computer) or 2007 (that is loaded on the new Vista computer).

For my next trick, I will copy my webs to the new PC and see if they work.
One victory at a time!
