frontpage 2003 mistery of the century

THIS IS THE SCENARIO:
WHEN I TRY TO SAVE USING FRONT PAGE 2003, IT TAKES LIKE 5 MINUTES REQUESTING
INFO AND THE ONE OF THESE TWO MESSAGES:
'The server sent a response wich Front Page could not parse. If you are trying
to connect to a Windows SharePoint Services server, check with the server's
administrator to make sure Windows SharePoint Services is installed properly.'
OR:
'COULD NOT FIND A WEB SERVER ON PORT 80. PLEASE CHECK TO
MAKE SURE THAT THE WEB SERVER NAME IS VALID AND YOUR PROXY SETTINGS ARE SET
CORRECTLY. IF YOU ARE SURE THAT EVERYTHING IS CORRECT, THE WEB SERVER MAY BE
TEMPORARILY OUT OF SERVICE'.

BUT OTHER PEOPLE FROM OTHER COMPUTER CAN PUBLISH WITHOUT ANY PROBLEM, MY
HOST SAYS EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE WHEN THEY TRYED, I UNNINSTALLED AND
REINSTALLED FRONTPAGE WITHOUT CHANGES.
IF THE PAGE IS SMALL (NO PICTURES OR JUST A FEW) IT LET ME SAVE, BUT IN A
BIG ONE IT DOES'NT... EVEN WITHOUT MAKING ANY CHANGE!!!
COULD IT BE A PROBLEM WITH MY INTERNET PROVIDER?

S.O.S.!!!
DONT LET ME HANG MYSELF!!!

Please don't use all-caps, it is considered shouting.

It seems you're trying to save your web 'live' on the server, rather than on
you local machine (this would slow things down, as it has to save the file
over the internet directly on the server). If you work on the site locally
and then publish, it works alot quicker.

You might also check with your host that the server extensions are properly
installed and working. Whatever they've told you still sounds like it is
not the way it is, else you would be able to publish and open the site
sucessfully.

One other thing to check, add Frontpage to your 'exceptions' list in your
firewall for allowed/trusted internet application/connection, as some
setting in the firewall could be blocking it.

Also if you have the utility 'FpCleaner' run it to delete all the temp and
*.web files, do a computer shutdown and re-boot (not sure this is necessary,
but can't do any harm). If you don't have this, download is available from
www.95isalive.com

Hope this helps, post back with the outcome.

Sorry for the caps.
Thanks a lot for your time Andrew but I tried everything without success. My
internet provider says the connection and my network are fine.
When I stop the saving process -because it takes like 5 minutes and then the
error message- Frontpage becomes unestable (my english sucks): it cant open
another page and if I close the web site, when I try to reopen it, the
program cant find it (???). I have to restart my computer to open the website
again.

I don't know what else to suggest.....short of resintalling Frontpage and/or
Windows or doing a repair install of one or both of these.

Perhaps do the routine maintenance on the system like Defrag, Chkdsk etc
(assuming you're using Windows XP), and the DiskClean up etc.

Is the error mesage one of those that does the "send to Microsoft" things?

Have you checked your system error/event logs to determine what might be the
error? The system/event log is under Administrative Tools in Control Panel.
It should come up listed as an "Application Error".

At least then you will have some technical info (apparently plain english to
an MCSE engineer, gobbledy-gook to the rest of u!?) you can then post on
say the Windows newsgroups, or to the FP group here in case an MVP might
have an idea of the cause of the problem.

Check all your cables to your phone/modem/router etc are firmly connected.

I am getting the same error when I try to publish my new site. I can publish
from a different computer, so it is not the hosting or extensions. I can
publish all of my other 8 sites just fine...
I did the debug and everything else I could think of to no avail.
Any ideas?
Thank you,

Deborah
