Frontpage 2003 Server Extension Errors with Yahoo web hosting

Divine Will

Hello:

I am unable to upload my Frontpage 2003 website to Yahoo's web server due to
a problem with FP 2003's "Server Extensions".

Yahoo's help files indicate that the "Server Extensions" in Frontpage 2002
do not have any compatibility problems with their web host server and can
therefore be used without any issues.

MY QUESTION: Is there a simple way to migrate files from FP 2003 to FP 2002
that will change all of these Server Extensions?

My thought is that I can open the FP 2003 files in FP 2002 and then do a
"Save As". But I don't know if this will change anything. My other thought
is to copy all the HTML and Java out of my FP 2003 files and paste into FP
2002 and resave.

Any thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated.

There's no such thing as FrontPage 2003 Server Extensions. The last version
was 2002 and they are fully compatible with all FP versions (2000, 2002 and
2003). There's no change you need to make to your site. Just open it and
publish as normal. If the server extensions aren't working then the web
host needs to repair them or re-install them.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have spent quite a while on the phone with
Yahoo's tech support trying to get my Frontpage 2003 files uploaded to their
server. It's simply not happening using Sharepoint or FTP.

Yahoo's tech support folks assure me that there is no problem in uploading
files from Frontpage 2002, so I am very seriously considering that option.

FOLLOW UP TO MY INITIAL QUESTION: Will anything change in my files if I
open the FP 2003 files in FP 2002 and do a "Save As"? In other words, can I
make my FP 2003 files into FP 2002 files by doing the "Save As"... or do I
need to recreate all of my pages by copying and pasting all the HTML, Java,
PHP scripts?

There's nothing to "migrate", if you can't open your site live on the
server...what errors are you getting?

The following errors appear when I try to upload my website files using
"Publish SITE" in FP 2003. NOTE: This is apparently different than the
"Publish WEB" in FP2002.

When using Frontpage/Sharepoint:

The Error Reads

1) The web server may not have the Frontpage Server Extensions installed
2) The web server may be temporarily out of service
3) If you are connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect
4) An error may have occurred in the web server

If this server does not support the FrontPage Server Extensions, FrontPage
may still be able to publish to the server via FTP or WebDAV.

When using FTP:

The Error Reads

1) The FTP server may be temporarily out of service
2) If you are connecting through a proxy server the proxy settings may be
incorrect
3) An error may have occurred in the FTP server

That's everything in a nutshell. Yahoo says everything is working fine from
their end so the problem has to be with FP 2003.

I'm at a loss to explain :-(

Try this:
Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with
Expression Web Designer and SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

Then open your web and recalculate hyperlinks.
Then try to publish using http://

See if it helps.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll try the FP Cleaner link you provided and
recalc as per your instructions.
