Frontpage 2003

J

Jim Fisk

I have a website that due to the size my Host provider kept telling me to
break it down into subwebs. The site would time out before the publishing
would finish. Site was in Frontpage 2000. Well I finally did it and the
time out problems were gone. So I thought maybe I don't have to rebuilt the
site in Dreamweaver.

So I read up on Frontpage 2003, and felt from thereviews that it was coming
up to the DM standards, but still easier to use.

So I converted to FP 2003, now my timeout problems are back. IS there
something from the conversion that could cause this that I can fix.

Nothing in the upgrade should have affected your server timeouts issue
- ask you host to increase the server timeout

Also do some cleanup
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
4) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
5) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks
6) Publish your subwebs independent of your root web
