frontpage ASP error message

Hi
when i display the webpage, the data from the database doesnt show up
on the page, and I get the following:
The Database Results component on this page is unable to display
database content. The page must have a filename ending in '.asp', and
the web
must be hosted on a server that supports Active Server Pages.

Does that mean I need to save my asp files on the server? do I need to
install frontpage on Windows server?

Could anyone provide step by step of how to solve this problem

Thank you
Norell

Where is the webpage you are displaying ?
Is it on a server which supports ASP ?

Yes, the ASP pages must be saved on the server, as for any other pages.
But if the server does not support ASP, that won't do anything .

Or are your displaying it on your PC ?
If I try to display ASP pages locally, I get the same result, because I use
XP Home and it does not have IIS, which is a server supporting ASP.

Yes....asp pages only run on a web server. They will only (mainly & most
commonly) run on Windows servers and ASP has to be enabled.

You don't need Frontpage on the server.

Windows XP Pro includes IIS (Internet Information Server - server software).
You can use this to test your pages before publishing to an actual web
server including testing ASP pages.
