Frontpage Custom Counters

P

Pipe

Hi,

I am having trouble with the placing of my custom counter
created in Photoshop 6. saved as a 100x25pixels.gif
into "my pictures" . Have done (x2) what it said in the
microsoft tutorial re importing to frontpage images etc.

I go throu the "insert, web componant, hitcounter,
finish, properties, click custom button, add address
(/images/Hitcounter22.gif), click ok, [hit counter]
appears on design page, save. I then use my FTP Client to
publish my new index.htm and my Hitcounter22.gif (which
is still in images). cant see image on design/preview/or
when i go to web brouser.

On my web it has the red x and the available space for
counter. I have the frontpage exts enabled.
This is the only code that is highlighted on the [hit
counter]

<!--webbot bot="HitCounter" i-image="5" I-ResetValue="0"
B-Reset="FALSE" I-Digits="0" U-
Custom="images/Hitcounter22.gif" -->

Any Help wud be good!!
:)

The hit counter requires FrontPage extensions and to publish to a server with extensions you can't
use ftp:// you *must* use http://websitename.com

Does the server have extensions installed??

No. You need to publish using FrontPage.
With your web open in FrontPage click File > Publish Web... ( Publish Site... in FP 2003 )
For the publish location enter http://websitename.com and click OK.

You will not see the counter or any FP run-time component unless you are opening the site in the
browser (Preview in browser) via http://localhost or http://www.domainname.com when you have the
web / site open in FP.

Make sure you have created the GIF image in a size that can be divided by 10, with the numbers 0
thru 9, and that you have imported this image into your current open FP web / site before using it.

If I can use a default fP counter on my site...this means
that everything is set-up for frontpage exts. right? so
the problem lies with my side then??
-----Original Message-----
Yes tom I have made the .gif image 200x40 and imported
from my pictures to my image folder in FP
-----Original Message-----
Make sure you have created the GIF image in a size that
can be divided by 10, with the numbers 0
thru 9, and that you have imported this image into your
current open FP web / site before using it.

-----Original Message-----
You will not see the counter or any FP run-time
component unless you are opening the site in the
browser (Preview in browser) via http://localhost or
http://www.domainname.com when you have the
web / site open in FP.

When i go to publish it, it asks for my username and
password for my site which i give but it keeps wanting
me
to enter it again??? All is tpyed correctly.

Contacted my host and server is FP enabled!!

-----Original Message-----
also, the relative path to the custom image may be
incorrect.
