Need your help!
I have purchased a new computer after FrontPage "crashed" due to memory
failures when I was attempting to publish. Since then I purchased a new
computer and installed Windows XP Professional, all updates, and FrontPage
2003 with all updates, and FrontPage Extensions are installed.
I am asking for assistance, once again, and restating my request for
assistance because of the fact that I have a new computer with all new
software -- a "virgin" environment and I may not have stated that fact
clearly!
Here's the problem that I experienced:
My computer had a memory failure and my system crashed during an attempt to
publish. My website was not affected, apparently nothing was actually
uploaded. Although, now I have a significant problem. The template that I
used for all of the pages has been lost. There are no longer any banners or
links, etc. at the top or bottom of the pages in FrontPage, although, as I
stated, the website appears to be unaffected.
In FrontPage, even some of the fonts were changed, although the actual text
is intact. Navigation is still intact, also. The picture galleries are
still intact, too, but like I said, the template has been destroyed, it would
appear. When I select a new page it is blank, whereas in the past all of the
banners and links to the index page would appear as well as the background I
had selected.
I was provided a recommended solution, but, at that time I did not have a
new computer. Now I would like to "download" the site to FrontPage on my new
computer. I sincerely appreciated the recommended solution, but I am unable
to use it/make it work to resolve my dilemma.
What would you suggest is the best way to recover from this disaster in that
my backup file is no good, either! I guess when it rains it pours!
These are the recommended instructions, but I was unable to figure out how
to go about "making it happen":
Does the server have FrontPage Extensions installed?? (answer is YES)
If so, simply open the remote ( server ) site in FrontPage and then click
File, Publish, and publish the site back to your computer.
(I cannot determine how to do this -- option does not appear, or I simply
don't know where to locate it.)
It works best if you create a new empty site on your machine and then
publish the server site to the empty site on your machine.
(I opened a new site, but couldn't figure out how to go about retrieving
my site.)
How do I accomplish this task?
I sincerely need your help!
Thanks, Patrick
