FrontPage Forms - Saving results in .csv file, exporting into Exce

In m my subweb, "Wildbunch," I have created a form. I want the output to be
written to a .csv file so the fields can be separated by comma's. I want this
data to be formatted and written to an excel file. I'm having a couple of
problems I need help with. 1. When I'm in FrontPage in the Remote Publishing
view, local web files on the left and remote web files on the right, I cannot
open my subweb "Wildbunch" to see if any data was written in my .csv file. I
did create an optional file that I can view through Internet Explorer, but
the data is not formatted in the format I need. I also discovered thanks to a
thread I viewed in this forum that I can, actually, download files into an
Excel file just by right clicking on my web site. I was able to do that, but
again, it's not in the .csv format I need. We did see a "403" error at some
point during all of our attempts, if that helps any.

HI Sheila,
In order to view the results you have to open your site "live".
Whe you open your site live you will see a "private" folder and in that
folder you should see the file you need.
I think what you are doing now is pretty common, I had the same problem the
first time I set this up.
To open your site live go to file>open>my computer> and choose the
www.yoursite.com. It should prompt you for the username and password that you
use when you publish changes to your site.

Shane, I appreciate your response so much. I created this subweb for a guy to
collect info from his golfing group of 160 guys as to when/if they want to
play golf on a particular day. I want him to be able to get the input into an
excel file on his machine, but I don't want him to have write access to the
sub web. I think I'm down to the point of just figuring out how to give him
read only permission to my subweb and I think I'm good to go then. I'm hoping
I can figure that out pretty quickly, but you just never know.

I suggested in the thread below: This might be the problem for you also:

Have you checked that your provider allowes frontpage extensions to operate
within a subweb. I am with fasthosts and they don't. I presume the
extensions are needed to write the cvs file, perhaps one of the MVP's might
know.

Thank you. Yes, my host, hostmysite.com, does have the FrontPage Extensions
installed on my site, so I'm o.k. there. Thanks to Shane, we've made great
progress accomplishing our goal. All I have left to do is to figure out to
assign permissions to my subweb site so the one guy who needs the data can
access it in read only. I don't want him writing to my website. Thank you so

This is hat I am saying my host won't allow me to use frontpage extensions
within subwebs its worth checking I had many hours of frustration before
asking the question

Have you considered creating a ASP/VBScript application where this person can login (via ASP) and
then generate a Excel file via ASP?

You cannot open a subweb in Remote site view.
Open the subweb in your local website, then choose Remote site view and
set the publishing options to publish to your remote subweb. This will
now open in remote site view.

Thank you for this. Sorry, I didn't read your note closely enough before.
I'm assuming that frontpage extensions are working on my subweb because the
..csv is being written and everything looks o.k. now, but I know that is not
an obvious question to ask. It seems that if your root web site has fp
extensions supported, the subweb would as well. Thank you for the post.

Ronx, I appreciate your post. I'm not sure I would have ever figured out how
to do what you've suggested. It will be a couple of days before I get to try
