FrontPage Haters

I was just reading a post about javascript and how the designer HATES
frontpage. I'm curious; All I've ever used is FrontPage and found it
to be very user-friendly, flexible, and easy to create fabulous-looking
websites. I don't understand why many "professional" designers don't
like it.

Do any of you know why people don't care for FrontPage?

Personally; I'm one of their biggest fans!

Most likely because it's possible, using FP, to generate very messy code.
But this is really a function of the user not the program. It's also
possible to generate perfectly agnostic code with FP (i.e., non-FP tagged).
Just remember that it's all about the operator, not the tool.

Your comments about javascript make no sense to me, though.

I think that this was the post
===================
I have hired someone to redesign my home page.

I deleted the html in a new page and copy and pasted the html into the
editor but the page does not work.

Like most designers they have little or knowledge of Front Page and HATE it

I am at kindergarten level with html - that is why I use front page.

It seems that the code has java script.

How do I find out if I have java script (even though I have no clue what it
is) ?

How do I get that to work in front page 2003?

Would some one be willing to look at the code and tell me what is wrong?

There have been a few replies and I for one am still not sure whether she
still has a problem or not.

As my Uncle Chutney always sez, Neither a follower nor a lender be.

Ultimately, it is you who will live with the consequences of your decisions.
Therefore, it behooves you to make your decisions for yourself, based upon
knowledge and understanding, and ignoring the opinions of the dumb masses.
If you find FrontPage to be a tool that suits your purposes, and it enables
you to be successful at what you do, what difference does it make what some
stranger on the Internet says, who may or may not be whom he or she says he
or she is, and about whom you know nothing, other than the fact that this
person is fond of spouting opinions?

I think one of the reasons is that, because FrontPage is readily available
to millions of non-web-professionals, and fairly simple to use, it has
allowed millions of very amateurish-looking sites to be created. You're
right that, among professional web developers, it's definitely not
well-respected, but not to worry: Murray is here to change all that. :-D

It's really quite simple...any self proclaimed "professional" that trashes
FrontPage is not professional. It's OK to not like something, use something,
promote something, or whatever...however simply to criticize the product
based on bias...shows a complete lack of understanding and knowledge. Those
"elitist" types that continue to do that..are about as close to being
professional as I am to landing on Mars. :)

If you enjoy using FrontPage..just keep doing so..let those types of
comments fall on deaf ears.
